- Inner circle of those who are wounded (who is wounded?)

- The count as a Buddah/Christ figure
- Paper outline:
- Isolate a motif.
- Identify the theme it relates to:
- ex: Water (M) relates to Cleansing (T).
- Research
- 4 quotes from a scholarly article must be included in the paper.
- Create an outline of the motif within the book and how it illustrates your theme.
- Keep to ONE motif.
- Intext citations!
- Look at the example found under “The Sun Also Rises” tag.
- Paper:
- 4 pg, MLA, double spaced, 12 point Roman.
- Title will be simply the motif(s) you are discussing, followed by your theme sentence
- Example:
- Water in The Sun Also Rises: water used as a symbol of renewal and cleansing for the characters damaged by WWI.
- Clear paragraphs and cohesion within the paragraphs
